I started making my way through the 'ians'.
The 5 books I always kinda associate together.
When I study one, I want to continue with the others.
The 'God Eats Pizza and Chinese'.
You know: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians.
So, obviously, I started in Galatians.
And can I share how blessed I was?
Oh Lovelies, there were things that just popped out at me.
The first thing I love is Galatians 1:16, well I suppose I should start in 15.
"But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by His marvelous grace.
Then it pleased Him to reveal His Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about
Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with
any human being."
I love that.
"When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being."
I was convicted.
How often do I realize something, or the Lord shows me something do I run off and share with friends and people around me?
How much less do I run to Him with excitement?
Or simply just revel in it, and in Him?
I do it far less often than I should.
There was a specific time the Lord called me to fast, and gave this verse to me. What a rich time it was! I did not let anyone know all that He was saying and revealing. What a sweet and incredible time of fellowship we enjoyed. The Lord and I :)
i would challenge all, try it. Maybe for a set amount of time. During a certain study.
What a beautiful, refreshing exercise!
Paul did this for 3 years! At least, in that time he did not consult with the apostles. What an amazing time it must have been.
To be honest I'm not sure that I would be able to do that, go that long without sharing the joy and revelation the Lord is showing me with friends. But what a blessed time I'm sure.
And I'm blessed that the revelations did not stop there...
I went onto the 2nd chapter.
14 years later He went to the church leaders.
Galatians 2:2
"I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. While I was there
I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared with them the
the message I had been preaching to the Gentiles. I wanted to make sure that we
we were in agreement, for fear that all my efforts had been wasted and I was running the
race for nothing."
How important is that concept?
How often do we honestly do that? Check in with one another.
What amazing things would happen I am sure if we did that.
Humbled ourselves, put ourselves under submission and a place we could receive instructions from those we sought.
First Paul went and sought the Lord. He got his calling and confirmation from the Lord. His identity and his stronghold. For years he walked in it.
And then he went to the leaders of the churched to ensure they were in agreement.
I definitely can relate. Sometimes we need that confirmation. That we are doing the right thing, we are running the right race.
We can fear our efforts are for nothing, and that we've strayed.
In our own heads, an idea or belief can sound great. Something right, we can be pursuing something that is completely wrong...but in our minds it is justified.
We need people we can trust, people in our lives to say, 'I'm sorry lovely, but no. That is not right and is not in line with the Word of God.'
I'm thankful this verse was put in.
As a reminder and comfort.
Of what we need to do, and that we're not alone in those feelings.
That we all need confirmation.
And may it give us the courage to do that for one another.
Call one another out on something not right, in love, always in love.
Also to encourage when we do see right. That we may not have doubt, or cause discouragement.
Galatians 2:6
"And the leaders of the church had nothing to add to what I was preaching. (By the
way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for God has
no favorites.)"
For some reason I'm reminded of the dentist.
I hate going, know I need to, and then love hearing everything checks out.
This verse kinda reminds me of that.
Paul was fearful that his efforts were wasted, that his message was right and good.
How hard and humbling that must have been.
But they had 'nothing to add to what he was preaching'.
How beautiful. To be confirmed in your calling and message.
I love what he adds.
It could be taken as arrogance, but I'm not inclined to think so.
Just matter of fact. Saying he didn't put them on a pedestal, or put them above God. For indeed God does not have favorites.
But there are times the Lord will give others a certain insight that He has not revealed to us.
One reason we need others as much as we do. And He calls us into fellowship. If we are equally yoked in Christ, walking on the same path, toward the same goal...we can learn from one another along the way.
I have more, much more to share on this.
Galatians 2 blessed me so much, and confirmed things, and the Lord showed things to me from it...but this post is quite long enough.
So for the first time...I'm gonna divide it up.
Stopping here, and will continue another time!
Look for part 2, coming soon ;)
